Depression Therapy

Depression can make everyday life feel heavy. You may feel tired, numb, or hopeless, lose interest in things you used to enjoy, or find it hard to get through the day. At Active Change Therapy, I offer compassionate, evidence-based therapy to help you understand what you are going through and find your way back to energy, connection, and meaning.

I have been in practice since 2008, and depression is one of my areas of expertise. My practice is located in Cherry Creek in Denver, Colorado, and I also offer telehealth for clients in Colorado, California, and Texas.

Reaching out can be hard when your energy is low. You do not need the right words or a clear plan before starting therapy. We can begin wherever you are.

What Depression Therapy Can Help With

Depression therapy may be helpful if you are experiencing:

  • Persistent sadness, emptiness, or numbness

  • Loss of interest or pleasure in activities you used to enjoy

  • Low energy, fatigue, or trouble getting started

  • Changes in sleep or appetite

  • Harsh self-criticism, guilt, or feelings of worthlessness

  • Trouble concentrating or making decisions

  • Pulling away from friends, family, or activities

  • Grief, loss, or a major life change

  • Feeling stuck or disconnected from a sense of purpose

  • Depression alongside anxiety or past trauma

Depression is common and treatable. Feeling better often happens gradually, and small changes can build on each other.

My Approach to Depression Therapy

I take a whole-person approach. We look at your thoughts and feelings, and also at your relationships, routines, health, and what gives your life meaning. Depending on your needs, our work may include:

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to notice and shift patterns of hopeless or self-critical thinking

  • Positive psychology and a strengths-based perspective to reconnect with what matters to you and what you do well

  • Mindfulness to ease rumination and help you meet difficult emotions with more kindness

  • EMDR when depression is connected to past experiences or trauma

  • Small, realistic steps around sleep, movement, nutrition, and daily structure that support mood

I am passionate about brain health and healthy living, and I believe caring for your body is part of healing. We set goals that feel doable for you, not a list of things you "should" be doing.

What to Expect in Depression Therapy

We begin with a conversation about how you have been feeling, what has changed, and what you hope therapy can help with. From there, a typical process may include:

  • A free consultation call to see if we are a good fit

  • An initial assessment of your history, symptoms, and goals

  • Building a plan together, with steps that match your current energy

  • Learning tools to manage low mood and negative thinking

  • Reconnecting with activities, people, and values that matter to you

  • Reviewing progress regularly and adjusting as you go

Therapy moves at your pace. On harder days, we can slow down and focus on what you need most.

In-Person and Telehealth Options

I offer in-person depression therapy in Cherry Creek, Denver, Colorado. Telehealth is available for clients located in Colorado, California, and Texas, which can make it easier to keep coming to therapy when leaving the house feels hard.
